About us
Curtis Jenney grew up in the hills of Connecticut developed a keen appreciation for his natural surroundings and has tried to capture this element in his work. Combining the natural design of leaves and flowing water he attempts to emulate what he saw in those beautiful hills. As in nature each leaf has its own variation in shape and texture.
Hand crafting his "leaf fossils" in a natural mixture he keeps his process as environmentally friendly as possible by recycling water, using all natural products and recycled carpets as padding for his pieces. Each of his leaves are signed and dated to ensure that you have the best quality product available to you.
What are they made of ?
Our leaves are not made of clay. Clay would have to be fired which we feel would make them much too fragile especially for out doors. We use Portland cement as a curative so it is more like concrete, but there are no resins in our material because we have found no resins can stand up to the sun for more than 3 years before they start to break down. There are class fibers in the material for reinforcing since this does not corrode.
The longest we've known anyone to have one of our leaves is 17 years.
How do they handle cold weather?
If you think your temperatures will be going below freezing. You should turn the leaves upside down on their pedestals and bring the pump indoors. The leaves can stay this way for the winter and if it snows they appear as snow mushrooms.
Is there some kind of guarantee on them?
We guarantee our leaves not to crack for 1 years. They are not made of plastic so they are breakable, if you drop a tree on them they will break, you dance elephants on them they will break. But if a piece does break off you can use an epoxy glue to repair them,J.B. weld (t.m.) works well, we use it for just about everything.
If you have small children we recommend you use the silicone we include with the waterfall to glue the leaf to their pedestals this will make them less likely to fall over and the silicone is semi permanent; so that should you want to detach them from their pedestals, you can stick a putty knife between them and pop them apart such as when you want to turn them over for the winter. But the leaves are stable on the pedestals without the silicone. We've had 65 mph winds blow through our yard and none of them moved.
Can leaves be bought separately? If you have one of our waterfalls –yes Call for prices.
Warning:
Remember there is a threat of drowning around any water for small children. Be sure to supervise children around your waterfall.
